About

I am a UX professional that likes to get into the mind of his users. Talking and motivating users to help me help them is a great practice that I champion as often as I can. My goals are always to advocate for my users and make sure we are listening to them and how they use our products. Never wanting to exclude someone, I have a strong background in accessibility and have helped build several style-guides to help support the design goals that have been established for the company. I have presented just a few pieces of work here, which are meant to give a glimpse into my thought process as well as provoke you to ask me questions. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or through LinkedIn and I will be happy to speak with you about what I can provide your projects. Please note: I am not a coder, I get the basics and keep trying to learn more when I have time. Hence this site might have errors.

Portfolio

A recent project I worked on was difficult in that content for this project was being created as I was being tasked with making updates to the new site. With interviews with the present team on what their goals are and how those best support their sales goals, I went about building up a few options and iterations of the ideas that we had settled on. What I have presented here is a quick view of how the iterative process was presented for internal review. With each review we evaluated the value of each feature and were able to provide guidance to the content team as to our goals and intent with each feature that was being considered for the site. While this is not a typical workflow, it actually helped the content team visualize how to generate the new content.

The task of this project was to take forms that were created quickly and with out UX input and make them be more useful for the end users. Working with the Infomatics team and several Physicians, I reworked the forms to mirror both the mental model that the Physicians had when they filled out both internal and external forms. This reorganization of the content, increased completion rates, decreased the number of clicks and helped foster further discussions in how we could improve the workflow in other areas of this product.

Within one product there was a need to be able to compare versions of what are called Order Sets. (a health care provider's instructions or directives to other health care workers regarding the treatment of a patient). This ability to compare is very important when dealing with updates process, changes to procedure or medication dosing. What I developed was a way to select two versions of an Order Set and present then so that the user can quickly and easily see what the changes are between the two. I also proposed the idea of being able to edit within this flow. Due to some technical issues, this was pushed back at the time.

Other Projects

Rail SEPTA

Rail Septa - a redesign of an android application. The goal was to make things easier to navigate and also easier to see and use while in motion on someones daily commute. I spoke to many commuters while doing the redesign as well as researching typical user patterns for how people hold their smart phones. I was even able to find out information of hand preferences. Once I had all the information I created my designs to encompass my research.

World Famous Watch came to me wanting a design for their website that was something a little different. They wanted it to be classy and reflect the quality of the watches that they sell. Taking design inspiration from other high end products, I came up with a classy design that imparted a sense of style and quality. At the same time as designing the website, I also re-branded the company, creating a new logo, stationary and banner that they had wanted.

Press Kits

Da Rezareckt

I regularly do projects for bands that many times include everything from posters and merchandise to doing the bands full CD packaging. For the band Da Rezarekt, I helped them develop a brand and then made sure it was followed on all their promotional products. The CD packaging was developed with input from the band and what kinds of images they were thinking about. I took their ideas and came up with a surrealistic image that was able to be used on all the promotional and packaging for the CD.

Matt Santry

Matt Santry is another performer that came to me with a need for an idea on how to develop a way for him to send out his promotional packet and not be the simple CD/DVD thrown in with some fliers. What we came up with was to make a small booklet that had the media held inside in a protective sleeve. I designed the booklet and the media labels as well as the follow up postcards that where used as show fliers.
